Thelma Adams Johnson is the President/CEO of Albany Community Together, Inc. (ACT!), a CDFI providing access to capital in one of Georgia’s most economically destressed areas. She was a part of the Georgia State Earned Income Tax Credit/Asset Building Team that received HHS Assistant Secretary 2010 ACF Honor Award for their work with VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) sites. Thelma served as a Regional Resource Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs prior to joining Albany Community Together, Inc. As regional resource coordinator, she provided consulting services to counties and cities in the area of Community and Economic Development. In her current position, she oversees all administration functions of the nonprofit agency that provides economic development financing to existing and new business starts. She has worked with the City of Albany as an Economic Development Specialist, and is a certified Economic Development Finance Specialist through the National Development Council. She has a BS in Accounting from Albany State University and a MBA from the University of Phoenix, and pursuing a DBA in Financial Management. She is an adjunct instructor at Albany State University College of Business, a 2000 Graduate of Leadership Albany, Chair of Albany Dougherty Inner City Authority/Downtown Development Authority, and Chair of Open Arms, Inc., board member of Dougherty County Family Literacy, Albany State University College of Business Advisory Board, and Georgia Micro Enterprise Network. 2007-2008 recipient of GMEN Builders Celebrating Rural Georgia Award, 2008 Georgia’s SBA Financial Champion of the Year Award, 2013 guest lecturer for the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute for Economic Development. She has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and economic development.
